Description of a certificate/label:

Created by the European Commission, EMAS specifies the requirements that need to be met when a company or organization wants to set up and implement an Environmental Management System. It certifies organizations and businesses that have an established and documented system for assuring the constant improvement of their environmental performance. Every type of organization or business can apply to become EMAS certified.

It provides support for organizations to help them find the right instruments in order to reduce their environmental impact. Participants voluntarily undergo an evaluation process.

Certification method:

Full verification can be carried out every four years for SMEs.
