Circular building (also green or sustainable construction/building)

An approach that assumes the application of the circular economy idea into the built environment which is expected to result in the buildings being designed, built and reused without wasting raw materials and without environmental pollution. An ideal circular building is a building in which no building material – at the end of its life-cycle – will become construction and demolition waste and will be incorporated into the supply chain again. Term refers to both a structure and the application of processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building’s life-cycle: from planning to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. This requires close cooperation of the contractor, the architects, the engineers, and the client at all project stages.
